Life As We Know It.....

Life As We Know It - That's the name of a current movie but it also describes our life...life as we know it has changed. Sadie, our new little puppy, is home! We picked her up around 5pm last night.

She wasn't crazy about riding in her crate but she settled down about half way home. She has a way of talking to you, interspersed with barks and yips. I think she's going to be a vocal pup. LOL!

The first evening was filled with little accidents...not unexpected. She ate, drank, played and slept. She crashed for the night around 10pm and we went to bed at 11. Around 2am she woke and I took her outside (got to put a flashlight by the door). Cold, drizzly but we did what we had to do...back in bed she whined for about 20 minutes and then dropped back to sleep until after 7am. Pretty good!

We took her for her first vet appointment. She was a bit intimidated by all the sights, sounds and smells outside and then by the new folks inside. But the shivering soon stopped and she took it all in stride. Not a whimper when she had her first shot.

When we got home I took her for a walk down the street and over to the shore where the water rushing in wasn't her favorite thing. By the time we walked back she was ready to play. All in all, a good morning in puppy-land!

I promise to not deluge you with puppy pics but here are a couple from last night.

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu

  1. She's a little tootsie pie alright. I said tootsie because I wasn't sure how to spell cutesy. The furry Bayfield Bunch guys bark a big hello to Sadie & welcome her to the wondrous world of RVing. Dogs rule!!

  2. You sure have a good looker there and it won't take her long to adjust. Rigg's says hi to another new friend. She will love the doggie parks you find along the way. We have find a lot of County Parks have them. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  4. She's going to be a BIG dog. Better train her early that Donna is boss or you'll get to the point of wondering who is taking who for a walk. I'm not so worried about Stu being able to handle her. :)

  6. We love doggie pictures. Never get tired of them. And she is a doll. We always have a flashlight by the door even though ours are sometimes better about sleeping through the night. Scooter and Skitz say hi.

  7. She is a pit bull-boxer mix. The mom is a small pit bull, about 40#. The dad is a taller, gangly boxer. Both parents are brindle and both have very sweet personalities and love people and other dogs. The pups from the litter prior to her are mostly in the 40# range so we're hoping for that size as well.

The mom and dad belong to Stu's youngest daughter...the litter was a mistake. LOL!

  8. Oh, how well we remember those 2am wake up calls--I was ready to send Emmi back where she came from but now a year later we love her and wouldn't trade her for anything.

  9. What a little cutie! Agree with Linda, training's important in the early days. Enjoy your puppy (Hi from Shadow)!

  10. What an adorable girl! I've had boxers, and you've made a great breed choice. Ditto on the training comments. Boxers need fair, consistent, and frequent training. I'd recommend leaving her ears uncropped - the after surgery care you need to give is unpleasant for you and the dog.

  11. She's absolutely darling! She'll be so much fun on the road, and good company, too.
