Back in Ecuador - Part One

Sunday, November 2, 2014

We had a fairly uneventful trip back to hassles with the rental car, drop-off or check-in. We had five footlockers running between 55-65# each, plus one rolling duffle at around 40#. We spent our wait time in the Admiral's Club and the plane left on time!

Upon arrival at the Guayaquil Airport, we quickly passed through immigration and moved on to baggage claim and customs. Two footlockers had to be opened. One for the strange shape of the bicycle seat we brought back as a gift (and possibly the UPS, same as when Stu came back in June). The other contained food stuffs and had been opened by TSA in the US as well. No issues since all the food was sealed.

We shuttled over to the Holiday Inn Airport, got checked in, took a nice shower and relaxed. A good night's sleep, an expensive breakfast and soon our driver was there to pick us up. A friend of our regular driver, Emilio, was our transport since he had a truck that could carry all our luggage.

The highlight of the trip was seeing this descriptive sign at our gas/rest stop. No mistaking the purpose!
