Meandering Mindless Mutterings.....

I enjoyed writing the last blog and by the comments, it appeared that my readers enjoyed it as well. I hope everyone takes time to read all the comments....you'll find they bring to mind many more memories. At least they did for me and Stu!

Stu has spent the last two days working on cleaning up both our motorcycles. Riding them back in the rain last week left a lot of mud and sand all over. They both look MUCH better. Of course, it's supposed to rain tomorrow...LOL! But we won't take them out, Freddie will get called to duty.

I wanted to pass along two more shops for you to enjoy. The first is a fellow RVer/blogger: KarenintheWoods and her shop is The Loom-A-Tic Workshop. The second is the Etsy store my cousin opened for all her crochet works. She has the cutest little babies and is adding animals. (I've already ordered a couple of things...LOL!) Her shop is Nana Annie's Goods.

Not sure if I posted before about the two year old grandson of a good friend (I know I did in Facebook). A couple of weeks before Christmas he was taken to the hospital with stomach pains. It turned out to be acute leukemia. He just came home last week and today was taken back in due to a fever. He's lost all his hair and I had put out a call for some fun ball caps for him. I think they are okay with that. Now I'd like to put out a call for cards and drawings from other kids, something to cheer up a little one. If you can please drop something in the mail to:

I am trying to use up all the food in our freezer...some of it is getting pretty old. I already had to toss out a package of chicken that opened up. I want to use it all up and buy fresh meat and veggies. So tonight the plan was for the last package of good chicken along with some whole wheat pasta mixed in with some marinara sauce. I was sure that I had the sauce...until everything was cooked...so Stu ran out to get some for me. If we had been out in the boonies, I would have mixed together with some tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and spices.

My good friend Lynilu posted this recipe for me...I think I'll be using it from now on, especially since the ingredients are things I always have on hand. Thought I'd include it here:

2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes in puree *
1/2 teaspoon each dried basil and oregano
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
Pepper, to taste

Heat the oil in a medium-size saucepan. Stir in the chopped onion and sauté it for about 8 minutes, until translucent. Stir in the garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.

Stir the remaining ingredients into the pan, then cover the sauce and bring it back to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Cook the sauce for about 10 minutes, stirring often. Add more salt and pepper to taste.

* I don’t always have this, but a can of diced tomatoes with a can of tomato sauce works well. And if you like a thicker sauce, stir in a few tablespoons of tomato paste when you add the crushed tomatoes.

We got Skype working on both computers tonight and got to chat with both of Stu's daughters and grandbabies. Hoping to use it more often to stay in touch with all our family. That along with Facebook really help.

Sadie continues to grow like a weed...she's still good for the most part. The biggest issue is digging...she LOVES to dig. We've tried pepper, burying poop, spraying water at her...next step is to find some small balloons and bury them. In addition we need to continue to exercise her...she has boundless energy. LOL!

There is a dog park less than 10 miles up the road...the next nice day we have we're going to take her there. I kind of vegged the last two days...I wasn't feeling my best yesterday, didn't even bicycle ride yesterday. Spend a couple of hours out in the sun both days, reading.

Stu contacted a local RV mobile service located just down the road from us. They sent a man out that afternoon to survey what all we need done. They will order the parts for our Norcold recall and contact our extended warranty company to get approval for the other repairs. We hope to see someone the first part of this week to get started.

With rain in the forecast tomorrow, after we hear from the service guys, we plan to take Freddie out grocery shopping (for non-freezer items....honest) and a movie. There are several new releases we'd like to see so no idea what we'll pick till we get there. LOL!

I'm still doing good on my diet/exercise plan. We take the bicycle out at least once and often twice a day. My knee is still bothering me from time to time but I keep after it with Aspercreme and alternating Arthritis Tylenol and Aleve.

Other than that, it will be a quiet week...weather permitting we'll get in some rides. Weather not, we'll catch up on paperwork and other inside chores. Not much new....

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu

  2. Thanks for the receipe, I add just a touch of crushed red pepper, thanks to RR, not too much.

Digging........hmmm know that only too well, its their breed. Diesel isn't as bad now at 6 as he was in his younger years. They often dig out of boredom, so we had to step up the walks/exercise. We found the Jolly Ball works great. Good luck, I know you will work with Sadie.

My knee was always bothersome after I rode, of course it was my right, shifting knee, hope yours feels better soon.
