Interests and International

Monday, July 16, 2012

After a short hiatus, we're resuming our A to Z of US posts. Check out the Blog Archive for the letters A through H.

Between us, we have a wide range of interests. We both love music and in a previous A-Z post we mentioned music events. Theme parks are high on our list, especially Disney. Stu and his late wife had a tradition of taking grandkids to Disney when they turned five (sans parents). We have continued this tradition, taking Joshua and Olivia to Disney in October 2010. We've also done one day visits as we did in 2009 for Stu's birthday, he got in free.

We buy season passes to Dollywood since we are in TN every spring and fall (as well as summer this year). We've managed several visits and really enjoyed seeing it at Christmastime last year.

We couldn't talk about interests without mentioning my writing and Stu's renewed interest in scuba diving.
We have tried geo-caching and decided it just wasn't for us. Now that Stu's knees are better, I know we will be doing more hiking when we get back to traveling more. I bought some beginner jewelry making supplies but admit that has taken a backseat to my writing.

What are your interests?

  1. Like you I love music, I am a fan of old and new and recently started blogging about new bands. I also like to write but am really quite new to it - if that makes sense.
I would love to go to Disney - you are so lucky - and to have such a good excuse as grand children. Truly blessed :)

    1. We are blessed for sure! Music definitely feeds our soul in a way that nothing else can. And I do understand the new to writing. I've done non-fiction for many years but am still new to fiction writing. LOL! Welcome to our personal blog!

  2. My friend Rosie works in the weaving booth at Dollywood every Oct-Nov time period. She dresses in historic themed clothing and shows people how fiber is turned into yarn and then woven into cloth or rugs.

If you are there then, stop and say HI and tell her you know KarenInTheWoods... she said it's a great place to work with wonderful people and staff. It's a super way to supplement the retirement income with a bit of wages from Dollywood and some sales of her weaving items.

  3. I guess my passion is writing..I have written lots of stuff, and many poems for friends and family...Next to that is sketching..altho I'm not very good at it...my baby brother is a very gifted artist...I do love music, and sang in High School with a group, but our granddaughter is the singer in this family...Everyone should have at least ONE passion to pursue..

    1. Donna, you REALLY need to start checking out my Write 4 Ten daily (M-F) writing prompts and just do it. Even you can afford ten minutes. Do it online or use a page per day in a notebook. Don't worry about what you are writing, just do it!

  6. Bill's passion is drawing and painting and I am into crafts of all kinds. We both love all kinds of music and are looking forward to seeing some talent as we travel. I have been trying different things, soap making, jewelry making, etc. to see what I can do while on the road. I guess the road will give me some clues.
