Day Eight: Anchorage/Seward, AK

Monday, June 14, 2010

We dock in Anchorage around 8 AM and head out to our first excursion at 8:30 AM. Going to be a fun day...we're going dog sledding! We depart at 6 PM.

Experience a real Alaska adventure on a two-mile dog sled ride.

DOG SLED RIDE
Feel the power, excitement and energy of the amazing sled dogs as they are harnessed to your comfortable wheeled sled. The thrill of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, also known as Alaska's Super Bowl, comes alive as you mush through the wilderness to the base of Resurrection Mountain and along Box Canyon Creek. Your Iditarod-veteran guide regales you with stories from the trail as you experience the raw power of 13 Iditarod sled dogs.

MUSHER'S CAMP
After your ride, tour the beautiful kennel facilities, laugh as a guest is dressed up as an Iditarod musher and cuddle adorable husky puppies. Your guides are all Iditarod racers, and offer a delightfully humorous, behind-the-scenes look at the Seavey family's training for the most demanding race on earth. Guaranteed to be one of the highlights of your vacation, this tour is a must-do for all visitors to the Great Land.
Till next time - keep on rollin',
