There is no one certain interpretation of the origin for April Fools Day but I did discover an interesting site in my search. The Museum of Hoaxes not only has the Origin of April Fool's Day but the Top 100 April Fool Hoaxes and the Top 10 Worst April Fool Hoaxes but you can search out the Foolery, as they put it, by year.
