When I was in my 20's-40's, my bucket list was more career oriented. In my 20's, I wanted a career. In my 30's, I was getting prepared. In my 40's, I succeeded. My bucket list was a little travel and dream oriented but also a somewhat generic.
- Love & be loved
- Raise good kids
- Succeed in my career
- Travel to a foreign country (other than Canada) but especially Australia
- Visit a rain forest
- Go to a grocery store and buy whatever I wanted/needed without thinking about cost
- Stay in a luxury hotel, just once
- Retire as a full-time RVers
- Live in a log cabin after retirement
- Learned to ride a motorcycle at age 55
- Toured the country solo on my Harley at age 58 (42 states, 27k miles)
- River tubing in Grenada (mini-rapids)
- First ever airboat ride in Belize City
- See the Panama Canal
- Sled dog ride in Alaska
- Be a background extra in a made-for-TV-movie (and make the edits and see myself on TV)
- Discovered I love darker beers - porters, stouts, brown ales
- Ride the fastest, longest, highest zip-line in the world (at the time) in Hoonah, Alaska
- Learned to downhill ski at age 45 and loved it
- Took a tramway ride through a rain forest
- Visited a butterfly farm in Aruba
- Got my first tattoo at age 54 (and eventually, six more)
- Cave tubing in Belize
- Swam with a dolphin
- Lived in Ecuador for two years
- Sold everything and became a solo full-time RVer in my little Class C motorhome
- Rode all of Rt 66 on my motorcycle - and celebrated my 66th birthday while doing it
- Became a published author with a small but loyal following
- Drove my own ATV through deep mud, sand, along a beach in Costa Maya, Mexico (photos near bottom of page)
- Took my first ever helicopter ride - over Kauai, Hawaii (WOW!!!)
- Saw the Redwoods, Four Corners, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Petrified Forest, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands and some others I'm sure I've forgotten
- Acted in a community theater production, actually two
- Gone on more than a dozen cruises to more than a dozen locations
- Have a professional photo shoot done for an article in a Suzuki owners magazine that featured ME!
- Wrote web articles for some of the top content sites in the 90's
- Started a private women's online motorcycle group that is still in existence over 12 years later
- Spent three weeks volunteering on the Blackfeet Reservation in Browning, MT
- Attended Punkin Chunkin!
- Hot air balloon ride
- Visit Scotland (Australia is on the list but financially I know it's not going to happen)
- See a play on Broadway
- Visit Yosemite National Park
But all in all, my life has been pretty darn spectacular and my wishes are now fairly small. I hope to continue finding treasures and trinkets of surprise events in my remaining years.
How does your younger bucket list match with yours today? Still got things you want to do?
Ciao for now!
What a great bucket list! Fun reading!
ReplyDeleteI was truly amazed - a small town girl never had dreams like these. LOL!
