So first stop will be in Banning, CA where we will stay for a few days at a Coast to Coast affiliate park, Silent Valley Club. On the way in we will hit both Sam's Club and Wal-Mart in Indio...time to stock up again. The park appears to be out in the middle of a National Forest area so I suspect we will really enjoy our time there. We plan to move to a boondocking spot south of Joshua Tree on Sunday (our first anniversary). We'll get in a couple of days of sightseeing before moving over towards Kingman where I have an appointment to get my bike serviced.
Today we headed out for some local riding and for a final lunch in town. The citrus trees are blooming everywhere, there was no wind or haze, the temperatures were perfect. I snapped a few more local shots, including some of the neatly trimmed citrus trees...flattops seem to be the order of the day here.
While following some back roads that we had missed, we round another section of Galleta Meadows Estates. Here are a few more shots of these amazing sculptures. You can see more in previous blog entries or check out the entire SmugMug Album.
Then we found a couple more that weren't animals...still very interesting. The work that went into these sculptures is amazing.
We decided to try a spot we hadn't eaten at yet but one that was recommended to us. Carlee's Bar & Grill is where the band from the American Legion Riders Desert Run has been playing. Their name is The Sand Daddies, I couldn't remember that for the blog...LOL!
We were quickly seated and our drink order taken. With a rather extensive menu it took us a few minutes to make up our minds. I opted for a Philly Cheese Steak and Stu got a Reuben. We did remember to take pictures...but only after we had eaten half our sandwiches....LOL! The food was delicious and the atmosphere very enjoyable. They had a solo guitarist playing in the background, soft music with a lilt of the blues. I hated to leave....
From Carlee's we made a quick run out to the local American Legion where Stu was dropping off his application for membership in the Sons of the American Legion (SAL). We figured that it seemed quite appropriate for him to join here in Borrego Springs since I am a Lady Moose back in Goshen, IN and an Elk in Gillette, WY.
So now we are back at the rig loading up for our morning departure. Will check back in when we have something to write about!
Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna & Stu
Get your California map out and look at Calimesa - only 10 miles from Banning. My office is in Calimesa. Then find Forest Falls, due north of Banning up in the mountains - and that's where we live. You're in MY neck of the woods : )
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics, Donna & Stu!
