Well, Stu will be home today and I will have some help with the #2Doods, Cooper and Murphy. Not that they're all that much work - most of the time. They follow most commands well now, in fact, the only time they are almost uncontrollable is when we get to doggy day care. They LOVE it there...
They wait at the door to go out and come in - IF, we say "stay" or "wait", which we normally do. Same routine getting out of their crate. They sit and wait to eat. They sit/down for their treats (well Copper will lay down, Murphy still won't). Tell them "In your bed" or "Go nite-nite" and they both go into the crate, no matter the time of day. "Leave it" works on anything. "Stop" works if Murphy is obsessively chewing/licking.
"No bark" has more affect on Murphy and he's never the one barking. He usually goes into the crate to wait till I've gotten Cooper to stop barking. LOL! As soon as I give the command, Murphy looks at me, a second command and off he goes. It could have to do with the fact that he HATES the Pet Corrector while Cooper tries to ignore it - he knows the sound is coming. I have to constantly tell him that he's a good boy!
In fact, I took this photo from the front yard where I was taking photos of the excavation for Stu's garage...Cooper was barking (an 'alert' bark) at me!
We still need to work on leash walking with the gentle leaders. We just don't live in a good area for that, too many loose neighborhood dogs. Sigh...but we need to do it, but with summer here it will be fall before we tackle that one.
Here are a few of the photos I took this week...
Cooper may have bear paws, but Murphy wins with the fluffiest tail!
Here they are waiting for the "Okay" to get their Buffalo Jerky treats.
A couple days later, I broke out the new Yaky Chews. Happy puppies - they get to chew for ten minutes before they get pup away or they would eat the whole thing in one session.
Cooper was lazy playing and managed to get Murphy's attention...which is what he was trying to accomplish!
They are entertaining for sure...love them both and know they are going to be thrilled when "Daddy's home"!
Ciao for now!

Interesting to see the differences in their faces and coats, one appears more smooth, while the other appears curly! Very beautiful fur kids for sure.
ReplyDeleteCooper is curly and VERY soft, he's 3/4 Standard Poodle and 1/4 Golden Retriever. Murphy is coarse and VERY think, he's 1/4 Standard Poodle, 1/4 Golden Retriever and 1/2 Rough Collie (like Lassie). Their personalities are very different as well.
DeleteSuch good pups! Like Cooper, Lizzie alert barked at me from a distance. LOL! I should not have been surprised given how barky she can be. But that picture of Cooper and Murphy with jerky treats and yak chews (in paw) and they're waiting for the okay to start? Wow! That's impressive, especially by enthusiastic-for-everything Doodle standards. Bernie and Lizzie can leave food on the floor when I tell them. Bernie will even pass a bully stick during a training session. Not sure that he'd pass one up if I left it around and said "leave it" without him thinking he was in the midst of a training burst. I think his love of bully sticks would overcome him. Love seeing your #2Doods:)
ReplyDeleteIt's surprising how good they are at "leave it" and yet getting them to sit, at times, is like pulling eye teeth. LOL!
