Going to try to keep this short and just link to photos, so here goes!
- Sat May 15 - Attended graduation and moving party in Thornton CO (greater Denver) for oldest daughter
- Sun May 16 - Attended graduation ceremony for daughter in Denver at Metro College
- Mon May 17 - Left our campground in Monument CO and headed north on I-25 where we spent the night at Wally World in Timnath CO
- Got to meet online friends Brian & Heidi, fellow RVers and riders, chatted for HOURS!
- Tue May 18 - Moved from Tinmath CO to Rock Springs WY where we enjoyed another night of hospitality courtesy of Wally World
- Wed May 19 - Kept moving westerly, from Rock Springs WY to Wells NV where we were kept safe nestled in the midst of all the trucks at the Flying J
- Thu May 20 - Gorgeous day as we traveled from Wells NV to Susanville CA where we once again parked overnight at Wally World
- Got to see the Great Salt Lake
- Were surprised at a rest area stop to find we were at the Bonneville Salt Flats
- Were attacked by some random tumbleweed, one of them traveling for 20 miles or so wrapped around our mirror
- Got stopped by a CHIPS officer for going a little over the speed limit and wandering a little on the road (well, it was VERY windy)....no ticket, just some friendly discussion
- Went through tunnels, over mountains, down into valleys...through sun, wind and rain
- Enjoyed farms, ranches, cattle, sheep, goats, desert views, wildflowers, red rocks, white rocks, black rocks, salt laden lands, green lush rivers, snow capped mountains
Then we will wind our way up the Pacific Coast Highway (101) and finally settle outside Seattle before taking off on our 14 day cruise to Alaska. Can you say EXCITED??? WHOO-HOO!!!
Till next time - keep on rollin',

Hey, you skipped over all those exciting places between Wells & Reno :)
ReplyDeleteYou two sure are racking up some highway miles this year; seems like you've zipped back & forth across parts of the west at least 3 times now.
Wells is a cute little town. We stayed at a little campground there for 4 days while our motor home was getting fixed. Filled up with gas at Flying J before leaving town. Stopped at the Salt Flats rest area too. It was a nice spot.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your cruise and hope you get to enjoy the redwoods. It is definitely a pretty area.
Great recap. Glad the patrolman was in a friendly mood...Safe travels on your way to the cruise. Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy week. Although we didn't follow the same route as you, I had to chuckle at your itinerary. You started in our former hometown of Denver-metro (we lived in Golden)and you ended in Susanville, about 45 minutes from where we are spending the summer! Too bad we didn't know you were in our neighborhood...maybe we could have met up! Good luck with the weather. We've had some rain/snow and wind. I hope you missed all that. Enjoy your cruise to Alaska. It sounds wonderful and I'm jealous!!
ReplyDeleteWHOOOO-HOOO....yes, you sound excited and I would be too. Travel safely as you head toward Seattle and your awesome cruise. :)

How funny--our fulltiming friends Vicki and Don left today for their 3 week Alaska cruise and we're doing our in late August. Looking forward to it as a "vacation" from the rig after eleven years on the road.
ReplyDeleteYer gonna LOVE the cruise!..."that" is the one main thing that this ol' Fart always tells folks that they "need to do at least once in their life"...take the cruise up (or down) the Inside Passage...it is "still on" my list to do at least once more...hee hee...(done it 5 times these past 50 years)..."if" ya get the time...once ya get back to the Puget Sound area...ya might consider stopping thru Annacortes (West of I-5 about 50 miles North of Seattle), parking yer rig in the nice Thousand Trails campground there,...and then take the bike and ride the ferry out to Friday Harbour, in the San Juan Islands...(Ya buy a ticket to there, and ya can get off on any of the island stops in between to explore)...there are BnBs ya can stay at as ya explore...it's a "smaller version" of the Alaska cruise...
ReplyDeleteHave Fun!!!!
We're on 101 -- Long Beach Peninsula in Washington state! There's room to park your rig in our driveway. Know you are welcome to stop by! Sheri
