The NON-Rally Rally [aka The Gypsy Journal Rally]

Friday, February 19, 2010

It's almost here...the Gypsy Journal Rally in Yuma March 8-12th. I am SO not a rally person....I've never wanted to go to a Good Sam or FMCA rally, way too many people. In fact the Escapade by the Escapees is even pretty big for me.

But I love the Gypsy Journal Rally (GJR) and the folks that attend. It's usually about 200 rigs and the atmosphere is informal and FUN! No pressure, lots of socializing, plenty of good sessions to attend if you want as well as a good smattering of vendors. That's why I've dubbed it the non-rally Rally. LOL!

I've know the hosts, Nick & Terry Russell for several years now. They work their hearts out to make this a fun rally, one that people will talk about and come back to every year. (They also try to hold two a year, one east and one west.)

For those interested, here are my blog entries from my last GJR, held at the fairgrounds in Casa Grande, AZ, Feb 2008.
The price is right...you can even stop in for a day if you are already within driving distance ($5 day pass). I hope to see many old friends and make some new ones this year...and it will be a first for Stu! Hope you'll give it a try, too.

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna & Stu

  1. I've heard so many good things about his rally before. We can't make the Az one but plan on being at the next one in Indiana..

  2. You are so right, Donna. The GJ rallies are the best. We've just been to one, but we've told others if you can only go to one rally, go to Nick & Terry's.

Still hoping to cross paths with you and Stu someday. Until then, travel safely!

  3. We had planned to be there again this year, selling 50/50 tickets and subscriptions to the GJ and Nick's books, but other responsibilities got in the way this year. We'll have to miss it. Damn!

  4. We'll be at the Arizona one this year. We just bought a new rig and need to get it weighed and take the driving lessons and buy some more fire suppression stuff in addition to sharing in all the fun of Nick & Miss Terry's Rallies. They are the best!

  5. It will be interesting to see what Nick thinks of the new location for the Rally. I remember his disapointment with the management where he held the last few rallies in Feb.

Hope you guys have a great time.

  6. I received an award for my blog. A silly thing, really, but a way to commend and promote other blogs and bloggers. I have awarded the prize to you, in the spirit of "pass it on."

You may collect the award (an image) at my blog.

Feel free to ignore this, of course. I usually do, but it was given with sincerity and I pass it on as such.

  7. I think we will be there. Although not 100% it looks very promising at the moment.
