Cancun, Mexico - Royal Solaris Resort

What a wonderful week we had in Cancun. Our flight was short & smooth and once we sped through the border checks we were sped to our resort in their shuttle van. This was all new to me so I kept Stu busy answering questions....LOL!

The resort was really nice...all inclusive (meals, drinks, tips) which made it easy. Each day there were special activities planned for the premiere members or you could just go your own way. We participated in quite a few of them as well as a couple of the evening shows in the theatre.

We took almost 200 photos and I've uploaded over 150 of them. Rather than overload this blog with all of them I will do a couple of additional blogs for the special activities. You can browse through all the photos at SmugMug.

There were two resorts and three hotels with multiple restaurants, pools (including a great area for the kiddies). Toss in pool snack bars, indoor and outdoor bar, lots of sun, balmy breezes and turquoise water like I've never seen....what a great time.

Staying in St Cloud - Central Florida

We left Port St Lucie on Thursday, November 6th. It was a short day and we took our time getting on the road. After one little defugalty in finding the park, we arrived. The park, Lake Toho RV Resort, is about 10 miles from the cities of St Cloud and Kissimmee, at the end of a dead end road. We planned to stay 10-12 days or so while we flew to Cancun.

The park was pretty crowded and many sites wouldn't allow us to easily unload the bike but the office staff told Stu to go look around and see if he found one he liked. He did and we got backed in and parked with a minimum of hassle. Our site was off to the back of the park and overlooked the pond (the lake was on the other side of the park).

The first thing we noticed was the abundance of birds and other wildlife...can you say alligator? LOL! Here are some photos taken just opposite our site. Birds first....


We saw two alligators....one obviously large and later on a much smaller one. Never got to see them outside the water but here are a couple of pics we snapped.


The limo driver taking back to the park from the airport pointed out the bumper to bumper traffic going the other direction...seems as though there was a shuttle launch at 7:30 and folks were jockeying for a good viewing spot. We had just finished unpacking our luggage when our motorhome neighbors came over to tell us it was almost time for the launch. There were golf carts galore at our end of the park, folks waiting to see the launch. Having lived in Florida for over 25 years, I had seen several but this was new for Stu. He snapped some shots, not the best due to the distance but the yellow spot is the shuttle beside the white moon. Great sight!!!


The day before we were due to leave we had some Sandhill Cranes visit us and we snapped a few up close and personal photos. The next morning we were awakened with the sound of raucus birds...the cranes were back. Later while out on a walk, we spotted several of them in a nearby field.


We really enjoyed our time there....well, except for the ant invasion while we were gone...I think we have finally gotten rid of all of them. Phew! Anywhere, here are a couple of closing shots.

Getting caught up to date before Mexico!

Just a short post to catch everyone up to date. I have three back blogs yet to be posted....they will be dated 10/21, 10/22 & 10/28. I hope to get them done before we head off to Cancun for a week.

So, we are in Florida...actually we have been since October 25th. We spent the weekend in DeFuniak Springs and really enjoyed the nice weather and two days of riding. From there we headed to Old Town, FL for one night (photos in the 10/28 blog). Cool nights and sunny days stuck with us as we then headed into Port Richey, FL for several nights.

We visited Stu's mom in Palm Harbor, took her out to a nice lunch at the Olive Garden and brought her some photos & frames for her suite. We also took home and repaired a rolling hassock that was broken (demonstrated ably by hers truly when she sat down on it and then REALLY sat down...LOL!). It was great to meet her and see where Stu got his terrific smile.

From there we headed to the east coast of Florida and a campground in Port St Lucie. We headed north to Vero Beach and met up with both my brothers & their wives as well as some other long time riding friends (motorcycle club that my late husband was a member of as well as both my brothers). On Sunday we headed out in the opposite direction and met up with Stu's stepdaughter Kim and her family. Had a great afternoon there and enjoyed a wonderful homecooked meal.

Other than that we have just been enjoying, riding between the raindrops, eating out, eating in, going to movies, watching movies at home and doing all those little things that need to get done. We're here until Thursday morning when we head to Orlando. We have 10 nights planned there but 7 of those will be spent in Cancun. I've never been so I'm excited!

On a side note....we won't have phones or our laptops while in Mexico. We can check general email on a public computer but I really don't see us doing that too often. Soooooo, if you don't hear from us you know why. We'll be back in Orlando on November 15th and head back to the Clearwater area (west coast) to get some RV service work done. We may make a quick east coast stop again before moving up to the Atlanta area for Thanksgiving. We plan on a week in that area, allowing for more family time.

After that we move towards TX with Christmas being spent in Livingston at the Rainbow's End Escapees park before moving south to our rented lot in Mission TX. All of Jan & Feb will be spent there.

So, now that everyone is up to date, it's time for me to work on those back blog entries. Oh, and before I forget....just a reminder that if you emailed me in the last two months and I haven't gotten back to you (or posted a blog comment asking a question), all those emails are gone. Sigh...gotta love computers.
