Where did the month go?

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

I can't believe it's almost June. While the weather has been about perfect (for me), that is about to change. The forecast for next week is calling for highs in the low 90s. Wait a minute - we normally only have 5-7 days all summer long in that temp range! Yikes - glad we have good A/C. This gal doesn't deal well with heat. LOL!

What have we been up to? Here are some photos to show you...oh, and Stu has almost completely recovered from his carpel tunnel surgery and is done with the cataract surgery on both eyes. His follow-up is in late June when he will find out what he will need for correction (if anything).

Some new neighbors....

A little color in the yard...

Warming my toes in the sun (yeah, pants/socks #dontmatch #dontcare)...

The full moon as we waited for the International Space Station to pass over...

Stu hard at work planting the new shrubs for the front of the house...

We will add a second staggered row in front of these to better fill in the space...

Our magnetic screen door is back up - the #2doods love it (when the weather cooperates)...

Burning off energy inside...

Making sure I was awake at 6:30am before we headed off for Stu's first cataract surgery...

That's about it for now....till next time...

Ciao for now!

  1. Hi, Donna! Thank you for visiting my blog today. I had no idea you had a personal blog. I had only seen your author's blog. What fun. Your flowers are lovely, but I would want to get between that mother cow and its calf. I've been chased by too many cows, with and without horns! Have a good one!

    1. I've had a personal blog since 2006 where I chronicled my journey into full-time RVing, then meeting Stu, then our travels, then our two years living in Ecuador (separate blog), our return and eventual buying a house. LOL! Lots of history there.

One cow is fine, a herd is terrifying (if you are inside the fence with them). Eeek!!

  2. Hey Donna,

I don't do well with the heat, either. We're expecting low 90s this weekend but it's already been too hot to suit me with temps in the mid-to-upper 80s. Your new neighbors aren't to be messed with for sure unless they find their way onto a grill. :D Those are some big puddles! LOL Yeah, that's what your doggies look like to me. What breed are they? Thanks for stopping in for a visit. Have a furtastic week!!

    1. HI Cathy, definitely not going to mess with the cows but I do love their look (almost as much as the Highland cows in Scotland). The #2doods do look like black puddles in most photos - hard to get good pics of them. LOL! They are Goldendoodles. Yeah, I know, they aren't golden but they are a mix of Standard Poodle/Golden Retriever. Murphy also has Rough Collie tossed in...LOL.

  3. It is hard to believe it's almost June. Lucky you, only a few days in the 90's. Dreading our summer cooling bill here in East Texas. Keep telling myself, "but, we're not paying summer prices for diesel for the coach." Gotta find a bright side. . .LOL!

    1. Definitely have to search for the bright side - I just don't deal well with the heat, one of the main reasons we bought up here on the Cumberland Plateau!! Hang in there...before we know it, we'll be talking about how cold it is. LOL!

  4. Here in north Alabama it is getting to the 90's this week. Like you, I don't do well in heat. But I will be waving goodbye to this heatwave on Sunday. Off to the Cape May area of NJ, MD and PA for the next 4 weeks. Only hope that it doesn't follow us.

Glad Stu is doing so well after all those procedures.

    1. Hope the weather is good for you - I miss PA and the mountains in the summer/fall. I don't miss the mud from the rain in the spring though.

  5. Great Photos I like the classic American Cattle, we dont see big (long?) horns where I live, it's all milking cows. The ones here are a bit like cats and if something is going on they cant resist having a look. I'm sure they would climb into cardboard boxes if I could find any large enough.

All seems well there and that is good. And the time passing rather quickly reminds me of my A to Z reflections Post. You see folk think I'm mad, but no there is truth in my slightly mad rambling posts at times.

    take care.

    1. I love the Highland Cows (being Scottish and all) but am more used to short or no horned cows. Longhorns were a rarity outside of the western US states but seem to be making more and more appearances here in the east.

Don't stop your rambling, mad, not so mad, posts - I enjoy your slice of life, Rob.

    2. No plans to stop rambling yet, although with the weather improving Posts will become less regular until I have sorted out a few things in the garden. And stuff grows so fast I spend a lot of time keeping it in control.

  6. Dogs, cows, and a bit of nature are always great to see. All three are some of my favorite things.
