My foodie binge list....

Monday, August 25, 2014

We do quite well on the food available to us here in Ecuador. BUT that doesn't mean there aren't a few "not so good for us" things on our cravings list. Here is my list of things I want to have while in the states. I will try to remember to take photos before partaking!

  • Blueberry pancakes at Cracker Barrel - blueberries are only available during a very short season here and even then, they take a lot of work to clean and are bitter. I miss blueberries!

  • Junior bacon cheeseburger, plain, and FRIES at Five Guys - if you've ever eaten there, then enough said. If not, you need to give them a try!

  • Philly cheesesteak with mayo from Double T Diner - a local chain in the Annapolis area, they offer a wide variety of excellent food. But their Philly Cheesesteak is my absolute favorite!
  • Penne Vesuviana with sausage & chicken from Rustico's - this is my Italian fix. I can get good lasagna in Cuenca but this dish has been my favorite since I first tried it in 2009.

  • Some good apple pie ala mode - not sure from where, but it's on the MUST HAVE list for sure!

  • Strawberry Twizzlers and Cinnamon Bears - my chewy candy junk food choice
What are your favorite food binges?

  1. Boy, do I ever know that, JC. LOL! But once a year isn't bad...

  2. I always get a side order of fried apples for dessert when I eat at Cracker Barrel. Oh, and their apple dumpling will definitely fill your need for apple pie ala mode. It is a meal in itself!

  3. DC, if eating a meal then the fried apples are my dessert, too. Haven't tried their apple dumpling...yet.

  4. Binge foods: chocolate, especially Dove; tostadas; marionberry (cross between a blackberry and boysenberry--NOT a politician) pie a la mode; fresh peaches; fresh raspberries; Hershey's Kisses with Almonds; Honey BBQ Twist Fritos; cinnamon red hot hard candies from Schimpff's Confectionery in Jacksonville, Indiana; homemade pumpkin blueberry pancakes made with Target's Archer Farms Pumpkin Pancake Mix and fresh blueberries, topped with cinnamon applesauce and a fried egg.

  6. We must have hit Five Guys on an off day - wasn't impressed. I'll have to try it again but in the meantime, A bacon cheeseburger from Red Robin will fill the bill. Newest secret craving is the potato skins from BJ's - oh YUM!!

  8. While Louisiana food is very good, i was reminded yesterday that I'm a stanger in a strange place as a crunchy shrimp roll from the local sushi chef came drenched in hot sauce... give me a simple lobster roll from Maine any day. Sure am glad Nexium is OTC these days. This hole in my gut would have perforated by now if it wasn't. Also missing good, crusty bread. Fresh, ripe apples with some snap and tang to them, not these mushy ones here. Oh well.

  9. Oh yeah...for me it's a clam roll so I understand, Wil.
