Say goodbye, farewell, till next time, or until I see you again....

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Farewells are on my mind. Last week I had a wonderful visit with an elderly aunt, age 87. Although in good-to-average health, I don't know if I will see her again.

Tomorrow we say till next time to my wonderful extended family here in NY, the youngest daughter of my late husband and her family. We always enjoy seeing them and the last time was not under the best circumstances, the death of her brother (my stepson). We've had a wonderful three+ days and look forward to seeing them again.

Today I learned that a good friend finally lost his battle (although in his words, he won and will now live forever) to cancer. I met him and his wife several years ago when I first started RVing. Since then I've met them several times on the road, the last being during a visit to Florida specifically so that Stu could meet Doug and his wife JoAnn. They are the most wonderful, caring, giving folks and I am glad Stu had the chance to spend a little time with them.

So Doug, farewell for now....not goodbye....I'll see you again!

Till next time - keep on rollin',

I did not know him, but I like his attitude.

I am trying to reach for my dream. It sounds like he lived his life every day.

In the pictures and tributes i have seen today, he looks like he was a happy man. Happy men bring happiness to others.

My family finds it difficult to show affection or even tell each other they love them. Hubby's family just the opposite. He kept telling me I need to tell daughters, etc how I feel.

In June my Mom died. I am so glad the night before I told her I loved her. They were my last words to her.

Good post today blogging friend. We all need this reminder.

Saying "see ya later" is never easy because we never know if there will be a later. That is why we must live each day fully! No regrets!! Mike and I were so impressed with Doug and JoAnn and are so glad we got to meet them and get to know them. He fought the good fight and WON!!
I wrote a tribute to them on our blog around our visit in 2010.

Bittersweet thoughts. I hate that we have to say good-bye to anyone.
