Still in PA....

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

The hurricane gave us a little rain and a little more wind but nothing like many other areas experienced. We are parked high up on a hill in rural Pennsylvania, enjoying time with friends and catching up on chores. We'll be here a couple more days while Stu finishes up some work on the RV. The internet and cell service here is very poor, tonight is the best we've had since we arrived so I thought I'd toss a quick message out to let everyone know we are doing okay.

Nope, I'm not lost.....

I'm still here....I had to leave Fiona, my sis, when the walls moved again.

She said she'd miss me and I know I miss her - but her adopted brother, Clubber, not so much. [snicker]

Mommy and daddy got skeered of something called a hericane and took me to a new place that has THREE dogs. I met these dogs before when we were camping but I didn't get to play with them. The oldest one, Fiona [no, she doesn't look like my sister], doesn't play with me but Maggy and Hailey do. We all play fetch outside and tug of war inside.

So lots of play and I've been REALLY tired....but it's fun! Not sure when we go back to where my sissy is, but I'm gonna keep playing with my new pals until then!

Earthquakes and Hurricanes....

Friday, August 26, 2011

Yeah, I know...another blog delaying tactic. LOL! For those that have emailed, yes, we did feel the earthquake. We were at a mall movie theater, second floor, top row seating, watching the new Planet of the Apes movie (very good, by the way) when it hit.

This was not our first earthquake...we had one while boondocking in Borrego Springs, CA. I also had one in Bozeman, MT back in 2005 while touring on my motorcycle. But we felt this one much more...and they did evacuate the movie theater while they checked for any damage. Phew!! (Yes, we did get to see the rest of the movie).

Now it's hurricane time. We are currently parked in our step-daughter's yard in Stevensville, MD - about two blocks from the bay. We have watched the weather closely and have decided to move more inland to a friend's yard in Warfordsburg, PA. Although there hasn't been flooding here before, we are also concerned about days of power outages. We really don't want to run our propane generator for days on end...and not be able to travel local roads.

So today is moving day...we will leave BRAT & the Brat Rack stored here, my bike is at the Annapolis Harley-Davidson dealer for service (dropped it off yesterday for the Monday appt), and we're de-oozing and getting ready to hit the road in another 2 hours or so.

No idea what Verizon service will be like, will post if it's good...won't if it's not. LOL! To all our family & friends in the path of Irene....please be safe!!! This one doesn't look good...

Back home and BUSY!!!

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Wow, have I ever been busy. Doggy camp was WONDERFUL...I loved it there. Lots of outdoors time and lots of puppies to play with. Mommy was really surprised when the lady there told her I was much calmer than most boxing dogs they see. Hee-hee!!

Every day now I get to play with my sis, Fiona. We race and race and race around the yard. We play "come and get it" with a big stick and daddy says we're gonna go to the beech. I don't know what a beech is but if my sissy likes it, I think I will.

Daddy laughs cause when one of us barks he can't tell which one it is....[snicker].

New blog coming soon!

It's been a crazy week since we last posted. We did the 9-11 Ride to Remember and are still recovering. Hopefully tomorrow I'll finish uploading the photos and get a "real" blog entry done. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are okay, the ride was amazing and exhausting. We are in the midst of an overload of medical, dental and hearing appointments.

So, we're back but we're busy....LOL! Bear with us till we get back into the swing of things.

The walls moved again...

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Yesterday daddy put the motorcycles in my play room and mommy made the walls move. We only drove a little while, I don't understand why we bothered moving but mommy said it was closer to dokturs. Whatever....

The bestest part was when we got there I got to play with my older sister, Fiona. I don't remember her but daddy said we played when I was little. Mommy put photos in her writing place so I'm not going to put them here...I'm tired. Oh, daddy gave me my first outdoor bath...not sure I liked it much.

Today we went to the pet hospital and they put stuff up my nose again. It makes me want to sneeze but they wouldn't let me. What's up with that?

Tomorrow I go to my new doggy camp, Wye River Kennels, while mommy and daddy go on a motorcycle ride for a couple of days. I love to ride but sometimes I like to play with other dogs more. I haven't been to doggy camp in a while so this will be fun! See you next week when I get home!

Sadie

We got moved....

Monday, August 15, 2011

Today was moving day...a whole hour down the road...from southern Delaware to the eastern shore of Maryland...from one family driveway to another! We took our time getting ready to move, no need to rush. Rather than load my bike and the immediately unload it, I opted to ride my motorcycle.

We finally hit the road around 3ish.....just as the rain moved in. Yup, rained the entire trip, normally 45 minutes, in the rain more like an hour+. At one point there was even a little hail and several times the thunder and lightning was a bit more than I like. Fortunately it slowed a lot and was almost stopped by the time we arrived.

We got parked and I took off my my wet gear and helped us get settled in. As the evening wore on we let Sadie into the fenced yard with her older sister, Fiona. They had met when Sadie was little (2-3 months old) but we weren't sure if they would still get along. They did....here are a few dark photos....

...and one of the cleanup that was needed afterwards. LOL!

Tomorrow we take Sadie in for her check-up at the vets and get any shot updates she needs in preparation for her doggy camp stay. Someone asked about her new doggy camp. She'll be staying at Wye River Kennels, where they have divided indoor/outdoor runs as well as a multitude of outdoor pens where they can socialize and play. We'll also have lunch with a good friend before heading back home.

Till next time - keep on rollin',

Where did the week go?

Sunday, August 14, 2011

It seems like we've been going non-stop for the last week. Every day the grandgirls have come over to visit.

...we've babysat a couple of times

...we took the kids to see The Smurfs movie (highly recommend it - 2D though)

...Stu repaired the brakes on his daughter's car (no pics, but we did visit McDonald's after the movie)

...we went to Thursday dinner with good friends (after checking out doggy camps for Sadie)

...Stu made his "killer pizza" for the family (best batch in three years!)

...met Stu's youngest daughter's new boyfriend (yes, we approve)

...we pre-tested the water slide for Jesse's 3rd birthday celebration

...we enjoyed the in the rain, out of the rain, back into the rain birthday celebration

...I made a gazillion (well, it felt like it) phone calls to set up appointments for annual medical, dental, vision and hearing tests plus an appointment for Stu to get his knees looked at once more AND....his colonoscopy. Oh, and five more phone calls trying to get a service appointment for my motorcycle's 10k service. (No wonder I hate phones....)

All in all, it's been a VERY busy week. Phew! Today we are slacking off...especially since it's been raining hard most of the day. Tomorrow is moving day, Tuesday is vet appointment for Sadie and lunch with a good friend. Wednesday Sadie goes to doggy camp till Monday and we head off for the 9-11 10th Anniversary Memorial Ride [latest news article].

So, doubt there will be much in the way of blogging for another week...but I'll try. Just not promising anything!!

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu
