The roller coaster of life....

Sunday, April 24, 2011

We all get wrapped up in our lives...dealing with day to day issues, family issues, traveling issues, work issues and more. Sometimes we just need a kick in the butt to realize that what we are dealing with is so much smaller than what others have in their current life.

Yesterday very good friends of mine found out that their son was killed while serving OUR country in Afghanistan. He was the light of their life and they were very proud of his choice ot duty/work. My heart breaks for them....

Today I discovered that a good online RVing friend (only online because we haven't met yet) that I have known several years is not only dealing with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, but without any medical insurance. Talk about a double whammy! My close friends Nick and Terry understand this type of difficulty very well and have conquered and survived. Other good friends are still battling cancer and giving it a good battle! Hoping Marcie will be able to do the same.

Today I am sad but I know that life is a roller coaster and must go on but sometimes the dips are very hard to deal with. Kiss your loved ones and let them know how you feel...life is too short!!

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu

  1. Your words are so true. I always feel so blessed, and enjoy what I have have, especially my health.

All we can say to your friends is that we appreciate their son's service, and deeply regret his death. I can't imagine anything worse. It brings tears to my eyes.

I pray that Marcie comes through this with flying colors. I had a similar diagnosis, but had insurance, and that makes such a difference. It's bad enough worrying about yourself, without having to worry about the healthcare bills. I'm sure many people will be praying for her after reading your blog.

I hope you and Stu and Sadie have a wonderful Easter! :)

  4. I am so grateful to your friends son and so very sorry for their loss. Losing a child has to be the very worst of all life's experiences. Please offer my love and prayers to them.

Thanks to our Heavenly Father and the sacrifice of his Son, we know that life is eternal and we will see our loved ones again. But it still is so hard.

Prayers also for your friend Marcie. I, too, have some friends fighting cancer. I am blessed to know them and gain strength from their courage.

  5. As a society, we should provide health care to all our citizens (via our taxes) and not leave it in the hands of the for-profit health care industry. Health care should be a right, not a privilege for the well to-do.

I hope Marcie gets all the care she needs to beat this thing.

  9. So sorry about the loss of your friends' son...wish there was something we could do for them...we will definitely be praying. Also about Marcie...we too don't have health insurance and at different times the anxiety climbs.

Thank you for sharing about your friends and let us share in praying for them.

  10. I'm so sorry for your friends loss of their son. I pray that Marcie will be granted a miracle healing. I agree everyone should be given health care. It makes me furious that our politicians want to cut Medicare / Medicaid for the poor. Sure do not hear anything about cutting their wages or insurance. I'd like to see them live on Medicare like the some of the retiree's do.

My prayers are with you and both your friends.

  13. It is always a kick in the pants to hear about others losses, and know that your own problems are so small in comparison. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend's son. My heart goes out to them. Also, thank you so much for mentioning Marcie--she is such a dear sweet woman. We just met last summer, but have been online friends for years.
