First day at Bike Week

Monday, March 7, 2011

The weather was absolutely perfect...forecast for upper 60's to low 70's and mostly sunny. We headed out around 10:30 on our 50 mile ride to Ormond Beach where we planned to visit Daytona Harley and all the vendors they had on property.

The first parking lots were full so we headed to the back lot where there was still a lot of room. Our first stop was Mustang where we picked up service passes so we could bring the bikes in. They didn't have the studded seat I wanted in stock but it made sense to try the plain seat to see if it fit me.

We walked around a bit more, purchased some 9-11 memorial flags for our bikes and Fire Department logo license plate bolts from Rumbling Pride. Then we continued on and looked at a lot of vendors.

Back to pick up the bikes and bring them into Mustang to try out the seat. The seat didn't work out...I knew I would sit higher but it was definitely higher than I wanted. Oh well...better to find out before ordering online and having it shipped out, only to return in (with us paying shipping costs on both sides).

Lots more walking, checking out the various vendors, buying some shirts at the Harley Discount Outlet, looking at the Budweiser Clydesdales, checking out the bikes, stopping so Sadie could get petted, answering questions about Sadie, getting something to eat...great day!

We stopped in one shop. Hawg-Tyd that catered to dogs and got Sadie a shirt with a jeweled skull logo and "Bad to the Bone". That generated a lot of comments and eventually her photo should appear on their Doggie Hall of Fame page.

I decided to get some more bling on my bike, you can read about it here. Sadie really enjoyed herself and you can read her take on the day here.

We finally got home around 6:30 in much cooler temps...dropped to the mid-50's. We were glad to be home and look forward to hitting Daytona Beach next!

Here are some assorted photos from today...you can view the rest in our SmugMug album, lots more bike photos there.

Till next time - keep on rollin',
