Darn punk kids....who told them they could RV?

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

As most of you already know, I follow a lot of blogs. I don't necessarily read them all but thry help me stay up to date with where folks are and what they are doing. I often find new blogs to follow from the new visitor welcomes posted in others blogs.

Oops, sidenote here...I don't do that but please know that I REALLY appreciate all of you who take the time to follow and read my blog!

Most of the RVing blogs I follow are written by retired or almost retired folks. Some have been RVing for years, some are inveterate boondockers, some like the higher end RV parks while others prefer mom and pop campgrounds, some live on a very tight budget, others seem able to splurge on most anything they desire. They have grandkids. They had careers (good and bad) or long term jobs. For most of them they have less years ahead of them than behind them and know to enjoy every day to the fullest.

Recently I have started following a few blogs at the other end of the spectrum. They are young and impetuous but smart in so many ways. They are taking their younger years and are traveling the country. I am really enjoying their perspective on things. I find myself looking at everyday things through new eyes and wanted to pass along links to their blogs. Maybe you will find you enjoy them as much as I do.

PS> Some of them are taking a BLOGCATION...so be patient! Take time to read their back posts.

Remember, life is NOT a dress rehearsal!

Till next time - keep on rollin',

  1. I envy their ability to get out there and see the country. There will be many years for them to settle down.

  2. You know, I enjoy these younger folks as well, it's a different perspective. Here is another one that is a wonderful blog by a fairly young couple, just in case you haven't found it already.

  3. We were blessed to spend some time with Freely Living Life, Angie and Jason and their two young boys while we were at Sherwood Forest. They are old souls and wise beyond their young years. They already "get it" and will live their life's so full because of this.

We spent several hours just talking on our first meeting, then even though we were tired from our day with swimming with the dolphins, we went over to their rig to watch the Bud Shootout. The conversations flowed so comfortably which none of us wanted it to end.

Another item to note, especially to all those naysayers that think children should not be living this lifestyle. Their boys are the most well-behaved, balanced and very well-mannered children we have met. It is obvious that the parents are happy living this lifestyle and it reflects in their boys smiles.

  7. Thanks for sharing the blogs. I already followed 3, but was introduced to a new one. I guess we could be considered in the "young punk" group too, seeing that we're in our 40's. It's nice to see a few others who decided to jump ship sooner than society says we're supposed to. It gives me a little confidence that maybe we're not all that crazy afterall!

  10. Those youngsters who can travel full time are really lucky. Even during our working years we spent almost all of our vacations traveling on boats or RV.

  11. Here's one I read regularly: http://www.technomadia.com/. They are currently taking a winter vacation from their RV but they still have a lot of good things to say including many "how to begin fulltime RVing while still young" posts.

  13. Hello Donna & Stu!

The title of this post made me laugh! With some of rather nasty looks we get from the older folks out here in the RV lifestyle I often wonder if they are thinking just that! lol.

Thank you for being interested in and following our blog. We appreciate people of all walks of life and of any age. Actually, we do not see people for their "age" at all. We very much live by "you are as young as you feel". ;)

But of course the RV lifestyle was originally geared towards "retirees". We have been out here for many years now (6+) and I can tell you that most of the retirees we have come across are far from friendly. With us anyway. They really have the attitude that "we (as a family) shouldn't be out here doing this". After all, they have worked their entire lives to get here, right? ;)

Thank you for "thinking outside of the box" and learning that "young" people can live this lifestyle too. There are many different lifestyles that take place within the RVing community. But we all have one major thing is common. We choose to be free. To live our lives to the fullest and to show our children that there is *so* much more to life.

    We are grateful that you mentioned us in your post. Thank you. {{hugs}}

    Have a beautiful evening!

    Ang :)

  14. Hey guys,

Thanks for the shout out! We're back from our "blogcation" and will be heading back to our illicit RVing in a week or so.

I extol the joys of RVing to our peers at every opportunity. Fulltiming rocks!
