Wet Windy Weather and more...

Monday, December 13, 2010

Well, it was wet yesterday and boy is it windy today. Accuweather says 19-20mph but it sure feels higher than that to you. We feel like we are back in Arizona or Wyoming. But let's backtrack to Saturday...

We met up with friends JC and Bev around 11:30 on Saturday. They showed us around their motorhome (love the custom desk setup) and after lavishing a little love on Sadie, we climbed on our motorcycles for a ride around Lake Okeechobee.

Sadie was loving the ride even though this was the longest she has ever ridden. It was a little over an hour to get to JC and Bev's, the day ended around 4pm at our rig. We stopped for lunch somewhere on the east side of the lake...the fog we had left at home was settling in again. Strange day... We stopped once to put on warmer gear and around 2:30 we stopped at McD's for coffee and ice cream. Yes, Sadie did have a treat....LOL!

Sorry, no photos...I was too busy riding. LOL! When I rode on the back with Stu, it was easy to take pics. But have to say, most of the trip around the lake wasn't all that scenic. We did pull into a couple of little state parks that were nice but didn't stop.

Yesterday we loaded up in the truck and headed into Clewiston to get some groceries at the Super Wal-Mart. Stu decided to try the zip-line for Sadie in the back of the truck while the folding bicycles and lounge chairs were unloaded. It worked out great except for the short leash part tangling around. So our first stop was at Tractor Supply for a swivel clip. Worked like a charm and she loved the room....even when we loaded in the groceries.

We stopped for lunch at Beef O'Brady's across the street...enjoyed a beer and some good food before heading back to the rig. Between the day long motorcycle ride and the walking around Wal-Mart, my knee was sore and swollen again. Not sure what I've done to it but hoping rest, Aspercreme and Tylenol will help. Suspect it's just good old arthritis flaring. LOL!

Today has been a veg day so far...I did start some laundry and make a few phone calls. Later I'll make some turkey chili for dinner. Did a post office run and mailed some kids gifts to M/C Mags for the Military. Came back and checking the tracking for our mail forwarding. OH NO!!!

Messed up again...sometimes I wonder where my brain is at, it's obviously in reverse lately! I ordered our mail but forgot to put in our new forwarding address so it all got sent to Jamestown where they are out trying to deliver it today!! Hoping they can forward it down here...think you get one free forward at the Post Office. Four boxes of stuff!!! EEEEK!

On to better news....LOL! Got an appointment for the 1k service on my motorcycle over in Ft Myers tomorrow. We'll head out at a reasonable hour and Stu will run errands around town while I wait for my bike. Petsmart, PETCO, Sam's Club and Costco are all close by. I'll take my Kindle and read.

Oh, and Saturday we will take Sadie and the bikes on a trip to Key West for three days...a birthday present for Stu. We found a great deal called the Sebago Sunset Sail Package. Three nights and a sunset sail on a catamaran...for $329. We'll be staying the Chelsea House since that is pet-friendly...glad they could get it approved for us. We'll be doing a lot of walking since we will be close to downtown!

Well, time to get off the computer and finish up the laundry and chili. Still windy although a little warmer now that the clouds have been blown away.

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu

  1. You really don't get to see much of the lake with that big dike all around it. I was disappointed. But I didn't think about the effect of hurricanes on that large a body of water. Have fun in Key West. Our girls were not impressed with the ocean.

  5. If you can get to a natural foods store or Vitamin Cottage, try some Arnica Montana for your knee. It's for arthritis/sore muscles etc and works GREAT! Tiny pills you dissolve under your tongue, don't taste bad at all. The first time I ever went skiing, on the slopes all day, used this afterwards and was not sore at all.

    Love ya!
