Plans should always be made in JELL-O

As we said, we were supposed to meet Motty and Patti for lunch. It should have been a nice ride on back roads, through small towns followed by a good lunch with great company and topped off with a visit to a local motorcycle museum.

We originally planned to leave around 11 am for the 50 mile drive but once Stu mapped it in Google, we backed that up to 10:30. It had rained during the night and by the time we loaded up and headed out the fog had moved in.

We traveled a little bit and couldn't see two feet in front of us. We didn't like the idea of continuing on through the mountains on two lane back roads that we didn't know...all in hopes that we would come out of it eventually.

We found an intersection that let us head back towards Jamestown. The route took us past Wal-mart so we stopped in to pick up the groceries we needed. With the dropping temps, Sadie is back shivering (boxers are known to be sensitive to temperature extremes). So we picked her up a little jacket to wear outside.

It just fits...amazing how quickly she is growing. If Florida turns out to have a cold winter, we'll be going up one size. LOL!

So we spend the afternoon reading, napping and watching old westerns on TV. We hope to be able to catch up with Motty and Patti before we leave TN but if we don't, we will later on down the road!

Till next time - keep on rollin',
Donna and Stu

  1. That was a very wise decision, whether on two wheels, four or six! We met Motty and Patti about two years ago, nice people, certainly a lot younger than most of our RV blogging friends -- except you guys, of course -- you are perpetually young!

  2. Several years ago I saw something that Sadie would appreciate. A guy on a bike in Colorado in the winter had his dog, a medium small mutt, on the back in a similar carrier, but inside the carrier the dog was in a heavy quilted "bag" that was zippered, keeping it close to the dog around the neck. The guy said it kept her nice and warm, and was a god-send for being able to take her along. He just slipped the dog into the bag, zipped it up around her neck, and put the whole "package" inside the carrier, and off they went! I have no idea where he found it or if he perhaps had it made. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to make one. Get busy! LOL!

  3. I think fog is scary anytime, familiar or not, but especially in unfamiliar territory. Sounds like you made a good decision.

  4. Smart move. Fog can be deadly! We once bought a house from the widow of a man who got killed in a coastal fog. Wouldn't pull over!
